Graham Hill was Mr Monaco, having set the record of 5 victories at the Principality that stood from 1969 until 1993. The only man to break Hill's record was Ayrton Senna, having won the race 5 times in a row since 1989 with his first victory in 1987, also in a Lotus. The 1969 Monaco GP would be Hill's 5th victory at Monaco and, poignantly, his final victory in F1. With this victory, he forever cemented both his and the Lotus 49's reputations as F1 performance benchmarks.
