“Regenmeister!”
This drawing captures then-double World Champion Michael Schumacher driving his Ferrari F310 during the torrentially wet 1996 Spanish GP, en route to his historic first victory for Ferrari.
Schumacher was heavily criticised for his “money-grabbing” move from Benetton - who carried him to his two World Titles - to perennial nearly-team Ferrari. And the F310 was easily one of Ferrari’s worst F1 cars for a generation - a parachute with wheels, per Schumacher himself. Yet in the rain, Schumacher could overcome the car’s performance deficits and made a mockery of the rest of the field. Not even a clutch problem nor a cracked exhaust could halt his inevitable march to the chequered flag. The regenmeister carried the day! And Schumacher’s decision to move to Ferrari was ultimately vindicated.
