"UU 5872 at Le Mans".

This drawing cptures "UU 5872, the 4½ Litre supercharged ‘Blower’ Bentley developed and raced in 1930 by the most famous of the Bentley Boys, Sir Henry "Tim" Birkin, at the Le Mans 24hrs. Birkin wanted even more power from the already-thunderous 4½ Litre Bentley and, against W.O. Bentley's advice, fitted a supercharger at the front of the engine. He got the power he wanted, but the supercharger did exactly what W.O. warned it would do: it blew the engine up, and Birkin never finished the race. The legend, however, was created.

Originally rendered in pencil and pastel by fine artist Mark J Davey, this piece is reproduced using specialst, fine art giclee printing methods.
