"UU 5827 at Le Mans".
This drawing captures "UU 5827", the 4½ Litre supercharged ‘Blower’ Bentley developed and raced in 1930 by the most famous of the Bentley Boys, Sir Henry "Tim" Birkin, at the Le Mans 24hrs. Birkin wanted even more power from the already-thunderous 4½ Litre Bentley and, against W.O. Bentley's advice, fitted a supercharger at the front of the engine. He got the power he wanted, but the supercharger did exactly what W.O. warned it would do: it blew the engine up, and Birkin never finished the race. The legend, however, was created.
Originally rendered in pencil and pastel by fine artist Mark J Davey, this piece is reproduced using specialst, fine art giclee printing methods.
Limited to 50 numbered examples and is shipped with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
Total size including 25mm border is 470mm x 347mm.
I expected a good drawing of the Bentley based on what I saw on screen, but I was genuinely blown away when the print arrived. The quality of production/printing is stupendous and defies the price of the piece, I feel like it's the bargain of the year. Very very impressed, very happy and I will definitely be a repeat customer.
